Emergency Cable Replacement on 42nd Ave South

Feb. 27, 2015

Seattle City Light has begun working to safely replace nearly two miles of electrical cable along 42nd Avenue South and side streets. A major power line was recently damaged by an outside contractor, leaving the area vulnerable to unplanned outages that could last days. The project is expected to last approximately two months and repair outages will be necessary to perform the work safely. Customers will be notified by letter or phone in advance of repair outages in their area.

For more detailed information please view Seattle City Light’s Construction Notification Flyer.

Frequently Asked Questions about City Streets

How do I report a signal light or street light problem?

Please call Tukwila Operations and Maintenance at 206 433-1860 to report the location and specific problem. You can also report street light outages online at Puget Sound Energy or Seattle City Light.

Who takes care of the bushes between the street & yard?

It is the responsibility of the property owner to control vegetation from encroaching the sidewalk and streets. The City may take action in areas where trees and bushes affect traffic safety (for example maintaining sight distance at intersections). Public Works personnel will make every effort to contact affected property owners.
