Utility Tax Information  

On November 18, 2002, the Tukwila City Council passed Ordinance #1998, which establishes a utility tax on cable television, gas, and telephone, including cellular telephones and pager services.

Additionally, a utility tax was established on electricity and natural gas consumption. The City also passed Ordinance #1999 establishing an annual rebate program for senior and disabled low income residents.

On September 21, 2009, the Tukwila City Council passed Ordinance #2250, which establishes a utility tax on solid waste and recyclable materials collection services.

Pursuant to the Revised Code of Washington (RCW) 32.21.865 and Tukwila Municipal Code Chapter 3.50, collection of this utility tax commenced effective February 1, 2003.

Payment of the utility tax shall be made to the City on a monthly basis using the following Utility Tax Return Forms. The forms, which are in PDF format, can be viewed/printed and sent to the Finance Department. Forms are not accepted over the internet or via email.
